Germanic Languages & Literatures
The graduate program, consistently rated on of the top ten in the country, has a flexible curriculum based on advanced work in such areas as literary history, theory, genre study, women's studies, film, German-Jewish culture, and intellectual history. Particularly noteworthy is the Department's interdisciplinary approach.
Through exchange agreements with the universities in Dortmund and Mannheim, graduate students have the opportunity to study and teach abroad for one academic year. The department offers the Master of Arts and the Doctor of Philosophy.
