A Day with the German Department

Program

 

10:15: High School students arrive. (Buses stop in front of Alderman Library/Special Collections; U.Va. students and faculty escort guests to Newcomb).

10:25 – 10: 55: Welcome and Presentations. (Commonwealth Room, Newcomb Hall 3^rd Floor).

•                         Department Chair Volker Kaiser.

•                       Katherine Gar Smith (4^th- year student): J-term in Berlin.

•                       Prof. Bill McDonald:  Summer Language Institute.

 

11:00-11:30: Prof. Laura Heins, German Film presentation. (Commonwealth Room).

 11:35-12:05: Lunch (Room 168, Newcomb Hall 1st Floor).

Raffle: high school students put their names into a hat. Prizes distributed at end of day.

 
12:10-1:00: Games and activities (Commonwealth Room/389).

 1:05: Presentation of scene from German play put on by U.Va. students, under direction of grad TA Brett Martz.

 1:35: Raffle winner announced. Good-byes and thanks.

 1:40: High school students depart.
