Short Bio
Professor Voris's special area of research and teaching is in the theory, history, and criticism of the theatrical arts, including film. She has published books and edited volumes on Bertolt Brecht, Peter Handke, Adolf Muschg, and Heiner Mueller. Other major research and teaching interests are: aesthetics and literary theory, American and continental gender theories (history, theory, criticism), as well as 19th and 20th century comparative literature and cultural studies. She has developed courses in the theory of literature (graduate level), in the semiology of cinema and theatre, and in the language and history of German film. Ms. Voris is a former department chair. In 1997, she was voted "Best Professor" by the University's undergraduates.
