Hunter Smith Band Building
The Cavalier Marching Band
Cavalier Marching Band Director William Pease on how the band helps build school spirit and the importance of the new Hunter Smith Band Building to the band’s future.
The Hunter Smith Band Building houses the University’s Cavalier Marching Band as well as the men’s and women’s basketball bands, the bands for the Olympic sports, the wind ensemble, and the concert band. The building includes a large rehearsal room sized to accommodate 250 musicians, small ensemble rehearsal rooms, a teaching studio/individual rehearsal room, and band offices and support spaces.
The project was made possible by a major gift from longtime benefactor Hunter J. Smith.
