Reunion Giving Increases More Than Threefold
“Come back, Give Back” — That’s the call undergraduate alumni celebrating their graduation anniversary heed, returning to Grounds to mark the milestone with classmates and give back to the University they love. Ten reunion classes return each year to enjoy a weekend of reunions with old friends, networking and reconnecting with U.Va. In the last few years, approximately 4,000 to 5,000 alums and friends have attended Reunions Weekend.
Alumni have increased their giving from $12 million in 2004 to $40 million in 2013, with more than 5,000 donors annually supporting all areas of the University. Volunteer commitment has grown from 55 in 2004 to almost 500 in 2013. The volunteers encourage friends and classmates to “Come Back” to Reunions Weekend and to “Give Back” to an area of the University that is meaningful to them. The reunion campaign would not succeed without the hard work and dedication of volunteers. Collaboration with the schools and units and the Alumni Association has also been a pivotal part of the growth of the Reunion Giving Program.
