Sheryl Watkins Wilbon

Sheryl Watkins Wilbon is a native Washingtonian. She graduated from the College of Arts & Sciences in 1988 with a double major in International Relations and Rhetoric and Communications Studies. While at Virginia, Sheryl was a member of Resident Staff, the Inter-Sorority Council, and served as a First Year Seminar Instructor. In addition, she was a dedicated volunteer in the Admission Office for four years.

Following an internship in the U.S. Senate Press Gallery, she attended Duke University School of Law. Upon completing her law degree in 1992, Sheryl clerked for Chief Justice Leroy Hassell on the Virginia Supreme Court. Returning to Washington, she spent several years working in public relations.

Sheryl has been an active volunteer at the University since her graduation. She served for eight years on the Walter N. Ridley Scholarship Board of Directors completing her tenure as chair of the Scholarship Committee. Sheryl continued her involvement with the University by serving for six years on The College Foundation board where she was a member of both the Development and the Nominating committees and served for two years on the Executive Committee as the Secretary. She is currently serving on the Board of Managers of the Alumni Association. In addition, Sheryl is a member of Washington, DC/Northern Virginia Regional Selection Committee of the Jefferson Scholars Program. She has been a participant in the University’s Women in Philanthropy program and served as the president of The Ridley Club of Greater Washington.

Sheryl is a member of the Board of Trustees of Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart. Sheryl’s other volunteer activities, both past and present, include American Women in Radio and Television, Inc., the Suburban Hospital Foundation Ball Committee and her neighborhood homeowners association.

She and her husband Michael and son Matthew, reside in Bethesda, Maryland.
