Provost’s Fund for Academics and Research

The Provost’s Fund for Academics and Research is a resource for upholding excellence in teaching, scholarship, and outreach. Your gift to this fund gives the University’s provost the capacity to make investments in areas that have become hallmarks of a University of Virginia education: superlative undergraduate education, innovative curricular and research initiatives, first-rate faculty, and an intellectual community that is challenging, rigorous, and diverse.

The Provost’s Fund for Academics and Research sustains the intellectual life of the University, providing support for:

• innovations and traditions in the undergraduate curriculum
• lectures by eminent leaders of international and foreign service organizations
• programs that assist new faculty to increase their productivity, ensure their success, and strengthen their connection to the University community
• creative and engaging seminar experiences for first- and second-year undergraduate students
• faculty and student projects that address the most pressing issues of our day, such as poverty, adequate health care, transportation, and literacy
• centers and institutes that conduct intensive scholarship in key disciplines
