2013 Regular Session

The 2013 Regular Session of the General Assembly convened on Wednesday, January 11 and approved the 2013 Session Calendar. The session adjourned sine die on Saturday, February 23, and reconvened on Wednesday, April 3 to consider the Governor's vetoes and recommendations to bills passed during the Regular Session. State Budget (Budget Process Map)

The biennial budget is passed in even-numbered years to appropriate projected revenues for the next two fiscal years. In odd-numbered years, the budget must be amended to ensure that the budget remains balanced based on actual and updated revenue projections.

The amendments to the 2012-14 biennial budget were presented by Goverenor McDonnell on December 17. For additional information on the 2012-14 budget, visit the State Budget Web site.
