Honor. Trust. Integrity. Respect. Self-Governance. Tradition.
While the University has many traditions, hazing has no place in the University experience.

For Community Members

Members of the Charlottesville/Albemarle community can be partners in preventing hazing. National media has highlighted in recent years the dangers around hazing and we recognize the need to engage bystanders in our prevention strategy. We know that many of you are concerned and want to help.

I am unclear about what behaviors/actions are hazing

Hazing is often difficult to define and in the past was often considered harmless pranks.  Familiarize yourself with definitions and examples and review the University’s policy on hazing.

What do I do if I think I witness hazing?

Any information or suspicion of or about hazing is important.  The detail may be small but it may be part of a larger picture that the University is investigating.
