HERITAGE THEATRE FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES
AUDITIONS FOR 2009 SEASON
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA- Thursday, January 15- The Heritage Theatre Festival will hold auditions for its upcoming summer season on Saturday, January 31 and Sunday, February 1 in the Helms Theatre at the U.Va. Department of Drama Building. On Saturday, January 31, auditions will be held for adult men and women, for roles in the musicals- Oliver!, Pump Boys and Dinettes and Little Shop of Horrors, and in the plays Moonlight and Magnolias, On Golden Pond and Red, White and Tuna. On Sunday, February 1, auditions will be held for youth girls and boys, ages 10 to 18 for many roles in the musical Oliver! and a single boy’s role in the play On Golden Pond.
Auditions will be conducted by appointment between 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 31 and noon – 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 1 in the Helms Theatre at 109 Culbreth Road. For the “adult” auditions on Saturday, please prepare a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue and one 32-bar song (if you are auditioning for all the shows – if only for the plays there is no need to sing). An accompanist will be provided, but please bring your own sheet music. All adults who audition for musical roles should also come to a group dance audition at 5 p.m., and dress prepared to move. For the “youth” auditions on Sunday, you only need to bring a 32-bar song to sing.
