CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – June 4, 2009 – One of Charlottesville’s surest signs of summer will be that much closer when tickets go on sale for the 2009 Heritage Theatre Festival season on Monday, June 8.

The season kicks off on June 25th with the all-time classic family musical Oliver!  It’s the perfect jumping off point for a summer filled with classics and favorites, featuring unforgettable songs, side-splitting laughs and one of the most bittersweet and beloved tales of stage and screen.

“We are so excited to share this wonderful season with our devoted Heritage audience and to welcome many more into the Heritage family,” said Producing Director Robert Chapel.  “From the murderous-yet-merry-mayhem of Little Shop of Horrors to the down home laughs of Pump Boys and Dinettes and Red, White & Tuna to the fabulous farce that is Moonlight and Magnolias to the classic On Golden Pond…there is truly something for everyone at Heritage this summer.”

And this year, thanks to another exciting debut, it will be easier and more convenient than ever to get tickets in hand.  For the first time ever, both season tickets and tickets for individual shows will be available through a secure, online ticketing system at www.uvahtf.org.  As always, tickets will also be available in person at the Heritage Box Office and by phone at 434-924-3376.  The Heritage Box Office is located in the lobby of the U.Va. Drama Building, and hours of operation are 10am to 6pm Monday through Saturday and 10am to curtain on performance nights.

With this exciting step toward the future comes a welcome return to the past.  This year, Heritage is going back to its original rotating repertory format.  The format, Chapel said, gives audiences the best chance to catch all of the season’s shows, even in the midst of the busy summer vacation season.

On Saturday, June 13, Heritage will serve up a sampling of its unique brand of theater magic in a special Season Kick-Off Party.  The event, at the Helms Theatre, is open to the public, and will include an hour-long revue by a collection of some favorite HTF performers and a reception catered by Clifton.  Tickets for the kickoff party are $30 and will also be available online starting June 1.

Complete ticket and schedule information is available at www.uvahtf.org or by phone at 434-924-3376.
