HERITAGE THATRE FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES
CHANGE TO 2010 SEASON SCHEDULE
Neil Simon’s Famed Barefoot in the Park Joins This Summer’s Slate When Rights To Previously-Announced Boeing-Boeing Were Withdrawn by Playwright
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – February 23, 2010 – Heritage Theatre Festival announced today that the famed Neil Simon play Barefoot in the Park will replace the previously-announced Boeing-Boeing in the 2010 season schedule.
The change is being made due to an issue with the rights to Boeing-Boeing, according to HTF Producing Director Robert Chapel. “We just learned today that the playwright is not allowing any productions of the play in the United States. This is something that happens from time to time, and while we are disappointed not to share Boeing-Boeing with our audience, we are delighted to be able to replace it with this classic romantic comedy by the legendary Neil Simon.”
Simon’s first Broadway smash, Barefoot in the Park is a whimsical look at the trials and tribulations of being young newlyweds in New York and facing challenges that range from a
tiny walkup apartment to dealing with the profound differences in their personalities. Corie is a spontaneous free spirit, Paul an uptight attorney, and the love that brought them together is tested in a script that showcases the signature wit, charm and fun that has made Simon one of the true treasures of the American theater world.
“I recently had a chance to go back and re-read this wonderful play and am so looking forward to bringing it to our Heritage audiences,” Chapel said. “It’s just a great, fun night at the theatre, and a show that can be enjoyed by the whole family.”
The replacement means a change in the previously-announced Heritage schedule, which will now go as follows:
