HERITAGE THEATRE FESTIVAL TO END 2011 SEASON WITH ACCLAIMED MUSICAL LOVE LETTER SHE LOVES ME

Sweet and Lovely Score From Team Behind Fiddler on the Roof Complements Lonely Hearts With a Twist Tale Known To Generations Through Films Like The Shop Around the Corner and You’ve Got Mail

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – July 18, 2011 – The 2011 Heritage Theatre Festival season will be sealed with a kiss with the season finale She Loves Me, the lonely-hearts-with-a-twist musical love letter with a story known and cherished by generations.

Featuring a delectable score from the musical team behind Fiddler on the Roof, She Loves Me tells the tale of two bickering shop workers who discover the surprising identities of their respective pen pals. Based on a novel by Miklos Laszlo, the story has wound its way into millions of hearts through films like The Shop Around the Corner, featuring James Stewart, and the Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan film You’ve Got Mail.

She Loves Me, book by Joe Masteroff, music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, will be presented July 28-30 and August 3 and 6 with a matinee performance on Saturday, August 6. The show is directed by Heritage Producing Artistic Director Robert Chapel.

“I have always loved this show, and am so excited to share it with Heritage audiences,” Chapel said. “It’s a midsummer musical valentine, complete with a lovely story and a sweet and memorable score from Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick. Whether you know this story from the films it inspired or you are just discovering it for the first time, this is a show that provides a perfect summer escape.”

Tickets for She Loves Me are $31 for adults, $26 for seniors (60+) and U.Va. faculty and staff and $15 for students. Season and single show tickets are available at the U.Va. Arts Box Office in the Drama Building, online at www.uvahtf.org or by calling 434-924-3376.
