Event Facilities

Many major University of Virginia facilities are available. Conference Services can coordinate your reservation for these facilities, as well as your equipment and catering arrangements. Some of the most popular U.Va. event facilities are listed below. Facilities are grouped by location.

Lawn/Range and Vicinity

The Rotunda	The Rotunda, the most recognizable symbol of the University of Virginia, was designed by Thomas Jefferson as the architectural and academic heart of his University. The Rotunda [virtual tour] is located at the north end of the Lawn and is the focal point of the Academical Village, as Jefferson called the University. Several of the Rotunda's air-conditioned rooms are available for conference use. Rental fees vary according to room and time; Conference Services staff will provide you with an estimate and advise you on the rooms best suited to your needs.
North Oval Room	Located on the main floor of the Rotunda, the North Oval Room is ideal for intimate meetings.	12	N/A	Moveable
Board Room	Originally designed as a lecture hall, the East Oval Room on the main floor of the Rotunda is also known as the Board Room because it hosts the University's Board of Visitors meetings.	40	N/A	Moveable (fixed table)

Old Cabell Hall Auditorium	Located on the south end of the Lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda, Old Cabell is one of the most beautiful buildings on Grounds. From the stunning 11-panel mural in the lobby to the reproduction of Raphael's "The School of Athens" in the auditorium, Old Cabell Hall guarantees an impressive setting for your lecture or performance.	851	Available for Fee	Fixed
The Gardens	The Gardens, located between the Lawn and the Range and behind the Pavilions, are part of Thomas Jefferson's original design for the University. Each Garden is uniquely designed and meticulously maintained and offers an unforgettable setting for a reception or seated meal. Jefferson Hall	Jefferson Hall is located in Hotel C on the West Range. It was designed by Thomas Jefferson and has been home to the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society since the University of Virginia opened. With period-appropriate appointments, Jefferson Hall is a striking setting for your meeting or lecture. Jefferson Hall lacks air conditioning, but fans are available to cool the room. The Garden Room	The Garden Room is located on the upper level of Hotel E on the West Range. Frequently used for lunches and dinners, the Garden Room offers a beautiful setting for a memorable meal.	80	N/A	Moveable

Central Grounds

Newcomb Hall	Newcomb Hall, conveniently located on Central Grounds, is the student center for the University of Virginia and houses Newcomb Dining Hall. A wide variety of air-conditioned rooms at Newcomb are available for conference use.

Conference Room 481	Located on the fourth floor of Newcomb Hall, Room 481 accommodates 18 participants at eight conference tables arranged in an open square.	18	Available for Fee	Moveable (fixed table)

Commonwealth Room	Located on the third floor of Newcomb Hall, with lecture seating for 90 and meal seating for 80, the Commonwealth Room is an excellent choice for presentations, classes, and dinners.	80-90	Fully Equipped	Moveable
South Meeting Room	Found on the third floor of Newcomb Hall, the beautifully appointed South Meeting Room accommodates up to 120 participants in a lecture setting, 128 participants for a meal, and 42 in a classroom setting.	42-128	Fully Equipped	Moveable
Newcomb Hall Theater	Located on the lower level of Newcomb Hall, the Theater accommodates 435 participants in comfortable theater-style seating.	435	Fuly Equipped	Fixed
Ballroom	Located on the third floor of Newcomb Hall, the Ballroom is exquisitely decorated and is perfect for large lectures with up to 500 participants, or meals seating up to 300.	300-500	Available for Fee	Moveable
Alumni Hall	Alumni Hall, located on Emmet Street across from the Central Grounds parking garage, is the home of the University of Virginia Alumni Association. Alumni Hall has elegant rooms available for meetings, presentations, and special occasions from receptions to auctions.
The Orange and Blue Rooms	Located centrally in Alumni Hall, these divided rooms are ideally suited for small meetings or luncheons. Individually the rooms seat 25 theater-style; with the divider removed they together seat 50 theater-style or 35 conference-style.	25-50	Fully Equipped	Moveable
The Board Room	The Board Room seats 34 participants around an executive-style I-shaped table with seating for an additional 10-15 around the perimeter of the room. Elegantly appointed, this room features a descending screen for presentations. The Annex	Adjacent to the Jefferson Room, the Annex can serve as a setting for more intimate receptions or dinners. Seating 50-60, the Annex features slate flooring, a handsome fireplace and a portrait of Thomas Jefferson.	50-60	Podium and Mic	Moveable
The Jefferson Room	Featuring hardwood floors, a wet bar running the full length of the room, and 3,000 square feet of space, the Jefferson Room is ideally suited for receptions, dinners, luncheons or large meetings. The space was renovated in 2007, seats up to 400 comfortably, and can accommodate up to 500 in a standing reception. The Terrace and Gardens	Directly outside the Jefferson Room lie the stately Terrace and Gardens, which provide a delightful outdoor setting. Framed with trees, flowers and statuary, the Terrace includes a bar and grill, as well as a loggia under which buffet or registration tables may be set.	100-200	N/A	Moveable

North Grounds

The Inn At Darden	The Inn At Darden, a stunning executive residential and dining facility with modern amenities, is located adjacent to the Darden School of Business. The Inn At Darden includes 180 beautifully appointed air-conditioned guest rooms, each with a private bath and queen-size bed. The Inn At Darden also offers 20 spacious conference rooms for meetings and lectures. Also available for use within the facility is the Trustees Dining Room, which accommodates up to 250 patrons and is highly regarded for its impeccable service and exceptional cuisine. Medical Center and Vicinity

Zehmer Hall Conference Center	The Zehmer Hall Conference Center at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville offers 6,500 square feet of attractive, affordably priced meeting rooms able to accommodate 10 to 200 people. Our facilities include state-of-the-art presentation and communications equipment, including high speed Internet.
