Incoming First Year Undergraduates
The University of Virginia requires all Incoming First Year Undergraduate students to live on-Grounds. The links below will give you an idea of each area in which First Year Students may be placed.
First Year students may apply to live in one of the three residential college programs, or they may live in the First Year Program. Assignments to any of the facilities within each program are made on a random basis, and First Year students pay the same rate ($5670 for academic year 2015-16; 2016-17 rates will be set by the Board of Visitors in the Spring) regardless of which residence area they live in or whether they are assigned to a single, double or triple room.

Definition: "First Year Student" refers to students who have finished high school and are entering their first year of college. This does not include Transfer or Graduate students. If you are married, a single parent, or a non-traditionally aged student, you may qualify for consideration to live off-Grounds; please send your exemption request to firstname.lastname@example.org.
