Hereford Residential College

Students choose Hereford College because of its active programming and events built around themes of sustainability and cultural diversity. A core of 40 faculty, grad student and community Fellows are committed to engaging Hereford’s 200 residents outside the classroom through dinners, field trips, and a wide array of short courses each semester. As a new offering, Hereford also sponsors grants of up to $2000 to residents interested in pursuing research on a self-devised topic with a faculty member of their choice.

The spacious grounds on spectacular Observatory Hill afford great opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, including play fields for soccer, outdoor tables for studying, a mini-farm garden with vegetable and flower beds, and the popular "hammock" terrace for relaxing. Hereford also enjoys close proximity to two fitness and health centers, the football stadium, many science and engineering buildings, miles of scenic hiking and biking trails, and dining at Runk Hall. A quick bus ride to Central Grounds is available every ten minutes throughout the day.

Both Norris House and Whyburn House are co-ed and single sex by floor and all rooms are air-conditioned. Rooms are generally double-occupancy for first year students, and single-occupancy for upperclass students.
