Here are some friendly reminders to help ensure that we maintain a safe community for all those living in University Housing:
- Lock doors and windows, even if you are leaving for a short period of time.
- Lock the door/windows when you are sleeping.
- Don't leave the door unlocked for roommates who will arrive later.
- Keep your valuable items locked up and out of sight (wallets, jewelry, etc.).
- Don't loan your key to anyone.
- Don't let non-residents into the building, even if they "look" like students.
- Don't prop the doors to the residence hall.
- Don't leave notes on hall doors indicating you aren't home.
- Don't allow strangers into your room.
- Get ID's from all workers who want access to your room. (Housing workers are required to have a photo ID attached to their person, where you can readily see it.)
- Report all doors, locks, windows or lights in need of repair to the Facilities Department in Housing. For maintenance emergencies after 5:00 p.m. and on weekends, call Systems Control at 982-4685. For other emergencies call 911.
- Report lost keys or ID's immediately (Keys: Monday-Friday, 8-5, 924-8886; ID's: 924-4122). After 5:00 p.m. and on weekends, call Systems Control at 982-4685.
- Report suspicious/unknown people loitering or checking doors in residence halls to University Police by calling 911.
