Resident Advisor Selection

"Learning from the experiences of others, while also sharing your own, has been my favorite part of being an RA. Every student at UVa has a unique story. I have loved the opportunity to work with residents, and fellow staff members, to hear these stories and shape these experiences into the collective identity of the residential and UVa communities."
-Nicole, Nursing '14

Housing & Residence Life will be inviting applications for Resident Advisor (RA) positions for the 2015-2016 academic year starting in November 2014. See the RA Application Process page for instructions.

  • Must be in good judicial/disciplinary standing with the University. Having a judicial history does not eliminate a candidate from consideration, but the nature of the incident(s) may have bearing.

Job Description

2015-2016 job descriptions will be coming out soon, but feel free to check out the job descriptions from last year:

Studying Abroad?

Individuals who are studying abroad will not be able to fully participate in the RA selection experience. The most important thing for candidates who will be abroad is that they should indicate their status on the application. We also encourage you to turn in your application as soon as possible. Interviews will be conducted via telephone or Skype. Please contact Rich Ressler, Program Coordinator for the RA Selection Process (selectionsuva@gmail.com) if you have questions.

Financial Aid

Housing & Residence Life strives to develop a diverse staff of Resident Advisors that is representative of the wider University population, and encourages students from all socioeconomic backgrounds to apply for a position on staff. Qualified applicants will not be discriminated against based on their socioeconomic status. However, the remunerations received by Resident Advisors may affect financial aid awards from the University. Students with questions about financial aid with respect to the Resident Advisor program should contact Student Financial Services (faid@virginia.edu).
