For those coming from out-of-town, we recommend parking at the Emmet/Ivy Parking Garage and walking the short distance to Alumni Hall. Parking will not be available at Alumni Hall. From Charlottesville/Albemarle Airport:
- Follow Airport Road to its intersection with State Highway 29 (Seminole Trail).
- Turn right (South) on 29 (Seminole Trail). Continue South on 29 (Seminole Trail) through major intersections at Rio Road, Greenbriar Road, Hydraulic Road, and under the State Highway 29/250 Bypass (Seminole Trail changes to Emmet Street). Do not exit.
- Continue on Emmet Street past major intersection at Barracks Road.
- Proceed under CSX railroad bridge and turn right at the next traffic light onto Ivy Road.
- Turn right at the next traffic light for the parking garage entrance.
From Washington DC:
- Follow Interstate 66 West from Washington to its intersection with State Highway
29 at Gainesville.
- Follow 29 (South) to Charlottesville.
- Upon approaching Charlottesville, continue South on 29 (Seminole Trail) through
major intersections at Rio Road, Greenbriar Road, Hydraulic Road, and under the
State Highway 29/250 Bypass (Seminole Trail changes to Emmet Street). Do not
exit.
- Continue on Emmet Street past major intersections at Barracks Road.
- Proceed under CSX railroad bridge and turn right at the next traffic light onto Ivy Road.
- Turn right at the next traffic light for the parking garage entrance.
From Richmond:
- Follow Interstate 64 West from Richmond towards Charlottesville.
- Exit at the State Highway 29/250 Bypass (towards Charlottesville and Culpeper). Exit at Ivy Road (250 towards Charlottesville).
- Continue through the intersection at Alderman Road/Copeley Road.
- Turn left at the next traffic light for the parking garage entrance.
From Lynchburg:
- Follow State Highway 29 North towards Charlottesville.
- Upon approaching Charlottesville, continue on 29 (Monacan Trail Road) past its intersection with Interstate 64.
- Exit at Ivy Road (250 towards Charlottesville).
- Continue through a major intersection at Alderman Road/Copeley Road.
- Turn left at the next traffic light for the parking garage entrance.
From Staunton:
- Follow Interstate 64 East towards Charlottesville.
- Exit at the State Highway 29/250 bypass (towards Charlottesville and Culpeper).
- Exit at Ivy Road (250 towards Charlottesville).
- Continue through a major intersection at Alderman Road/Copeley Road.
- Turn left at the next traffic light for the parking garage entrance.

From Emmet/Ivy Parking Garage
- Walk out to Ivy Road (the main entrance for the garage) and turn left or east.
- Cross Ivy Road at the intersection of Emmet and Ivy (to the right) and walk south along Emmet Street until you come to a sign showing Alumni Hall on the right
- Alumni Hall is one block from Ivy Road.

*If you are staying at one of these two hotels, you have the option to take the Route 7 bus from the hotel to a block from Alumni Hall to avoid driving to the parking garage. Visit the Charlottesville Transit Service for service map and routes for Route 7.
**Alternately, walking is a good option for those inclined for the less than one mile morning stroll through the University. Follow University Avenue from the hotel west to the Corner or immediately after walking under the railroad bridge. Cross onto the campus grounds and walk past the Rotunda, University Chapel, Alderman Library and descend the stairs just past the Clemons Library steps. Walk across the field to the tennis courts and Alumni Hall is just across Emmet Street near the courts.

- Leave I-64 at Exit 120/5th Street. Go right at the top of the exit ramp and continue
on 5th Street (which becomes Ridge Street) until the major intersection at West Main
(you will see a statue of Lewis and Clark and Saccajawea on your left.)
- Turn left onto West Main Street and stay on it through several lights, passing over
the railroad tracks.
- The Marriott Courtyard is on the right, #1201 just before the major intersection for
Jefferson Park Avenue. The Red Roof Inn is through the intersection on the right,
#1309.
From Lynchburg:
- Follow State Highway 29 North towards Charlottesville.
