Friends of IEN

IEN operates as a non-profit organization, a part of the Urban and Environmental Planning Department of the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia. IEN's budget is supported entirely by grants and contracts for its work, as we receive no state funding and possess no endowment. In addition we conduct significant pro bono work for communities and nonprofit groups who cannot afford to pay for our services. With severe state budget cuts impacting many of those who use (and pay for) our services, and decreased general support from foundations, we find ourselves facing an uncertain future. At the same time, as you can see by our list of projects, IEN is doing substantial important work — work, in fact, that benefits more people than ever.

We are determined to continue our efforts to bring people together and build sustainable communities. Please consider supporting the work that we at IEN are so committed to continuing. With the generosity of people who believe in the importance of this work, we will be able to continue to foster dialogue, promote principled and effective decision-making, and build sustainable communities in Virginia and beyond. Please consider making a
contribution today.
