Policies
Program Eligibility:

Full-time UVA students, UVA faculty & staff with Recreation Memberships & their spouses with memberships are eligible to participate in all programs. Non-members may only register for classes or services which indicate a non-member fee. See Program Registration for more information.

The University of Virginia has expanded access to its recreational sports facilities as an added benefit to members of the University community. Learn more about the Plus One membership policy!

Bring Your ID!

All Members are expected to provide a University ID Card or Intramural-Recreational Sports Department ID Card for access to the recreation facilities. Those that “forget/lose” their cards may gain access by providing either their UNIVERSITY ID#, E-MAIL address or NAME.

Fees:

We accept credit cards (Master Card, Visa, Discover, American Express) at all facilities for any transactions of $5.00 or greater. We will continue to accept cash, check and Cavalier Advantage.

Adult Guest Regulations:

  • Members are entitled to sponsor a guest(s) on a daily basis by purchasing a $7 guest pass.

  • Sponsor must accompany guest(s) and is responsible for all actions of his/her guest(s). All parties must abide by UVA regulations.

  • Guest(s) must present photo I.D. verifying age (must be at least 18 y.o.) and identity.

  • Guest pass is valid at all recreation facilities during operating hours for date of purchase with accompanying sponsor only.

  • IM-Rec Sports reserves the right to refuse admittance to guests.

Youth Guest Regulations:

  • Members are entitled to sponsor a guest(s) on a daily basis by purchasing a $5 guest pass.

  • Sponsor must accompany guest(s) and is responsible for all actions of his/her guest(s). All parties must abide by UVA regulations.

  • Guest pass is valid at designated recreation facilities during Family Recreation hours for date of purchase only.

  • IM-Rec Sports reserves the right to refuse admittance to guests.

Youth Membership:

Children through age 17 can purchase Youth Memberships which provides access to designated recreation facilities including the pool, squash/racquetball courts, basketball courts, multi-purpose rooms, and tennis courts during Family Recreation Hours when accompanied by a current adult member. A Youth Membership may be purchased in addition to the parents’ membership. The Youth Membership also enables families to take advantage of discount prices and priority registration for youth programs.

Cancellations & Refunds:

  • All requests for withdrawals and/or transfers must be made by contacting the Intramural-Recreational Sports Business Office

  • If the Intramural-Recreational Sports Department cancels a program/course, we will provide the participant the option to apply the value to another available program/course, receive a credit on their Intramural-Recreational Sports Department account, or receive a refund via check.

  • If the registered participant requests to withdraw from a program or course up to 2-business days prior to the first class, we will provide the participant the option to apply the value to another available program/course, receive a credit on their Intramural-Recreational Sports Department account, or receive an approved refund via check. A $10 processing fee will be applied.

  • If the registered participant requests to withdraw from a program within 2-days of the first class or after the class has begun, credit or refunds are not available.

  • Outdoor Recreation programs and Drop-in Group Exercise Passes are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Shoe Policy:

For your safety and the preservation of our wood floors, you are required to wear only aerobic, cross-training, or court shoes for indoor programs. Running, turf, deck or soft-soled shoes are not allowed. IM-Rec employees may ask anyone wearing shoes identified as inappropriate, to discontinue participation.

Lost & Found:

If you have lost an item, please check with the Recreational Facility where you feel you may have left it. Items of value (i.e. UVa IDs, Facility Access Passes, wallets, money, keys, electronic equipment, eye glasses) are customarily brought to the Intramural-Recreational Sports equipment desk, located on the lower level floor of the Aquatic & Fitness Center.

Facility Use Policy:

Use of University of Virginia facilities, equipment and/or property for private, individual, or personal financial gain, except by those individuals so authorized by the University, is a violation of University policy and may result in the loss of membership to the Intramural-Recreational Sports Department and/or access to all of its facilities.
