May & June:

Choose one class FREE as part of UHR Hoo’s Well with UVA Health Plan enrollment. Participation limited to one time only (includes summer 2012). Registration begins May 1 by phone 434.924.3791 or in person at the IM-Rec Sports Business Office, AFC (M–F, 8 AM–5:30 PM).

July & August:

Classes meet two times per week for three weeks. Available formats include Cycle, Interval Training, Aqua, Zumba, Yoga, and Bootcamp. Each course is progressive in nature and will advance participants through concepts and technique.  Participation is open to those eligible for UHR Hoo's Well program and is $45/class. Register in person or by phone with the Business Office beginning May 1.
No limit to participation (register for 1-6 classes)

YOGA

This class actively combines strength and flexibility into a dynamic workout. The sequence of movements is designed to counter-balance the stresses of sedentary life and promote the practical application of strength and flexibility throughout one's daily activities. All fitness levels welcome. Instructor: Cindy Parnell

BOOTCAMP

This moderate to high intensity class incorporates drills that will focus on speed, power, agility and strength to provide a dynamic conditioning workout. Class will meet both indoors and outdoors weather permitting. Prior fitness experience recommended but not required. Instructor: Cathy Pales

CYCLE

This 60 minute cardio ride will take you through moderate and high intensities in rides simulating training outdoors. Rides will include sprinting, climbing uphill, and interval training in both seated and standing positions to increase speed and endurance. Instructor: Jen Bauerle

ZUMBA

This class is a Latin-inspired dance fitness class that incorporates simple moves to dance such as Cha Cha, Salsa, Reggaeton, Rumba, and more! Zumba combines fast and slow rhythms with steps that are easy to follow and moves that allow you to achieve both cardio and strength benefits. No prior dance experience needed. Instructor: Shravya Kovela (June) & Cindy Parnell (August)

INTERVAL TRAINING

This moderate-to-high intensity interval training class will incorporate strength and/or cardio to get your heart pumping and keep your body strong. Instructor: Amy Kokemor

AQUA

Use the resistance of the water to get a total body workout. A great tool for cross-training and injury prevention! (Swimming skills not required: water depth 4’). Instructor: Amanda Everhart

RESTORATIVE YOGA

A blend of moving meditations and restorative poses using supportive props and soothing music to help the body release.   This class will leave you feeling relaxed, refreshed and renewed. Instructor: Shannon Slovensky
