Synergy
A synergistic blend of cardiovascular and resistance
training. Participants will learn how to integrate weights and cardio
exercise into one efficient and effective workout. All levels welcome.
Running
& Racing
Instructed by Hosni Haghighian, an award winning marathon runner, this class
is designed to provide a group training setting for individuals wishing to run
distances up to 15K. This class meets twice a week with one day focusing on endurance
and the other class focusing on speed drills. This progressive class will accommodate
multiple levels.
Pre-Natal
Aquatone
Keep your body fit and flexible during pregnancy with this non-impact water workout.
Instructed by Katrina & Monica. Physician

Eco-Exercise (not
currently offered)
Worlds collide as Fitness teams up with Outdoor Rec. Join Kelly and
John for a creative, total body workout using the scenic low- element
course at Poplar Ridge on Observatory Hill. With a focus on core fitness,
balance, cardiovascular endurance, strength and flexibility you’ll
gain new ideas for your workouts. Whether you’re training for
an adventure race, or just need an energy boost to get your day going,
this class is for you!
All fitness and ability levels are welcome.
Deep
Water Exercise (not currently offered)
Participants will use aqua joggers to maximize their deep water workout...impact-free!
Deep water exercise is a viable form of cross training for the athlete
who cannot run or for the person who desires low impact running. Participants
should feel comfortable in 14’ water.
Pre-Natal
Yogalates (not currently offered)
Expectant mothers will learn to use yoga and pilates to connect
with their own wisdom, body and growing baby. Benefits include
strengthening pelvic floor muscles, improving circulation and digestion
and alleviating discomfort. Physician

ZUMBA
(Fitness Dance Workout) (not currently offered)
Zumba is a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system that utilizes
a mixture of body sculpting movements and easy to follow dance steps
set to a fusion of Latin and International music. This hot new workout creates
a party-like atmosphere and utilizes the principals of fitness interval
training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning
and total body toning. It targets the glutes, legs, arms, abdominals and
the most important muscle in the body...the heart! Zumba is soulful and the
most exciting workout ever. And, it's designed for everyone–no dance
experience necessary. Come out and see what it's all about!
Dance
Fever (not currently offered)
This cardio-based dance class will keep your heart pounding to
the latest dance mixes. You’ll learn energetic choreography and moves
that will have you amazing your friends on the dance floor.

Women's
Wellness Workshops (not currently offered)
These workshops will be a combination of information and interaction. There
will be a new topic each week specifically geared toward women. Grab your girlfriends
and sign up for all 10 weeks or just a couple of sessions. Drop-in cards will

HOOS
Eating Well at UVA (not currently offered)
This five-week course will include sessions on fueling your body,
menu planning, smart grocery shopping, equipping your kitchen, cooking
basics and vegetarian cooking. Participants will receive helpful handouts,
samples, recipes and observe cooking demos.
