Workplace
Adult CPR/AED (Fall & Spring semesters only)
This American Red Cross class will give individuals the knowledge and skills
necessary to recognize and provide basic care for breathing emergencies, perform
CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Workplace
Adult CPR/AED Plus Child & Infant CPR (Fall & Spring
semesters only)
This American Red Cross CPR class will add child and infant CPR to the
Adult CPR/AED class described above.
First
Aid (Fall & Spring semesters only)
The purpose of this American Red Cross class is to teach lay responders
the knowledge and skills necessary to give care in an emergency, help
sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness
until medical help arrives. Skills and topics covered include checking
an unconscious person for life-threatening conditions, identifying
and minimizing the effects of shock, identifying the signals of various
soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries as well as heat and cold related
emergencies and controlling bleeding.
Lifeguard
Training (Fall & Spring semesters only)
This course provides the minimum skills training to qualify to serve as
a lifeguard (First Aid & CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer are
included). Prerequisites for the class include the ability
to swim 500 yards continuously using the front crawl and breaststroke
and the ability to swim 20 yards using the front crawl or breaststroke,
surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return
to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the
object.
Lifeguard
Training Recertification (Fall & Spring semesters
only)
Be sure to take this course if your current lifeguard certification will
expire soon. CPR/AED is included for the Professional Rescuer.
Eligible participants must possess current American Red
Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED-PR, and First Aid certificates, as well as
the ARC Lifeguard Training Manual.
Prerequisites for the class include the ability to swim

CPR/AED
for the Professional Rescuer Recertification (Fall & Spring
semesters only)
This American Red Cross class provides the professional rescuer (lifeguards)
the opportunity to recertify their CPR/AED-PR skills. Required: current CPR/AED-PR
certification.
Lifeguarding
Instructor (Fall & Spring semesters only)
Great for pool managers and head lifeguards, this instructor level American
Red Cross course includes the Fundamentals of Instructor Training which
is a prerequisite for all Red Cross Instructor courses in Health &
Safety. A successful LGI candidate must be 17 years old, pass the prerequisites
for the Lifeguarding class, demonstrate competency on all rescue, CPR
and First Aid skills, participate in all classroom and pool sessions and
pass a written exam. Upon completion of the course the individual will
be eligible to teach American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the
Professional Rescuer, and O2 Administration courses among others.
Water
Safety Instructor(Fall & Spring semesters only)
This instructor course is designed to train individuals to teach American
Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety courses. The course provides participants
the opportunity to further refine advanced aquatic skills, as well as
develop teaching skills through hands- on experiences. Prerequisites
include a minimum age of 16 and successful completion of pretests.
