YOUTH RECREATION Instruction:
Elementary Age children
& Pre-teens

Tennis
Ages 5–12. Enthusiastic instructors will foster
a love of the game in your child! Beginning players are introduced to
basic skills. More experienced players will improve strokes and begin
to learn strategy. Drills and games are used to help everyone develop
an understanding of the game.
Basketball
Ages 5–12. Ball handling, defense and shooting!
The basics are what this class is all about. Young players will work
on the correct techniques for all fundamental skills. Lead-up games
and game-like drills make learning new skills fun!
Soccer
Ages 5–12. Children are exposed to basic dribbling,
passing, and shooting skills as well as rules of the game and teamwork.
Participation and fundamentals are emphasized through fun lead-up games.
Tae Kwon
Do
Ages 5–12. Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art
and an Olympic sport. Children will not only learn the basics of martial
arts (including kicks, punches, and forms) but also the discipline, self-control,
and confidence that it entails. This class will teach children how to
focus their energies in a productive manner, as well as provide an introduction
to the world of martial arts.
Lacrosse
Ages 8–12. Your child will gain a solid introduction
to this exciting Native American sport. Cradling, scooping, throwing
and catching skills will be developed. Children will also gain an understanding
of basic game rules and concepts of team play.
Volleyball
Ages 8–12. Children will gain an introduction
to this competitive team sport. Forearm passing, setting, and serving
skills will be introduced, as well as rules of the game and concepts
of team play.
Lil Hoos Training
Camp (not currently offered)
Ages 6 & up. This experiential class will focus on a different
activity each week helping your child determine which activities they
enjoy the most. Many of the activities in which your child will participate
during this class are offered as a full six-week class for more concentrated
participation and additional progressive instruction.
