YOUTH RECREATION Instruction: SWIMMING

Spring & Fall Semester Tennis Classes

Private Swim Lessons
New program for youth and adults! Let our instructors help you meet your swimming goals with private swim lessons.

Ages 3 & Under: Gold Fish
Class is designed to help children feel comfortable in the water while with their parent/guardian. Parents will be presented with information and techniques to help orient their children to the aquatic environment. Skills taught include: water adjustment, supported front and back float, jumping from side of pool to parent, passing, blowing bubbles, towing, safety awareness/skills, interaction with children, songs, and games.
Infant: 6–18 mo.
Toddler: 18–36 mo.
Children must wear snug plastic pants. Parent participation required!

Level 1: Purple Minnow
Class is designed to help children feel comfortable in the water without parent assistance. The class continues to work with children becoming comfortable in the water, by teaching front and back floating with an introduction to gliding, submerging underwater, and safety awareness/skills. Other skills taught include entering and exiting the water, and supported front and back kicking. Class in warm water pool.

Level 2: Red Snapper
Class is designed for children who feel comfortable in the water and can front and back float and kick while using a kickboard. Front and back glides will be refined. Introduction to back crawl, front crawl, rhythmic breathing, elementary backstroke, sitting dives, and safety awareness/skills will also be taught. This class will be divided between pools based on age.

Level 3: Green Dolphin
Class is designed for children who feel comfortable floating, kicking, and gliding without assistance. Children will work on front and back crawl, retrieve objects in chest deep water, and elementary backstroke. Introductions to diving, treading water, surface dives and safety awareness/skills will also be presented.

Level 4: Blue Whale
Class is designed for children to refine elementary backstroke, diving, treading water, surface dives, rotary breathing and front and back crawl. Also introduced will be the breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, survival floating, turns, and safety awareness/skills.

Level 5: Silver Shark
Class is designed for children who are comfortable with the front and back crawl, treading water, elementary backstroke and diving. Students will learn stroke technique and mechanics. Refinement of butterfly, sidestroke, breaststroke, and stroke turns will also be perfected. Introduction to lifesaving techniques and safety awareness/skills will be taught.
