National Cybersecurity Awareness Month - October
Attend one of four security awareness presentations for National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, hosted by the Information Security, Policy, and Records Office (ISPRO).
- Wed., October 2 - Our kickoff speaker will be Randy Marchany, Virginia Tech Information Technology Security Officer, who will describe Internet attacks over the past 15 years, and provide a glimpse of the future by demonstrating some new attacks and defenses in the IPV6 world.
- Wed., October 9 - An FBI Special Agent from the Richmond VA Field Office will discuss the dangers of social networking.
- Tues., October 15 - Professor Lawrence L. Muir, Jr., Adjunct Professor of Law at Washington & Lee University School of Law, will discuss cyber crimes and cyber legal issues, identity theft scams, protecting yourself online, and proposed cyber security legislation.
- Thurs., October 24 - Karen McDowell, Information Security Analyst at the Information Policy, Security, and Records Office, UVa, will speak on the current state of cyberthreats and how to protect data and identities on home and work computers.
