Attention
women runners
Here's
a chance to get a workout while raising vital funds for U.Va.'s
Cancer
Center. On Sept. 4 at 8 a.m., women from the University and
Charlottesville community will compete in the 17th annual Charlottesville
Women's 4-Miler.
To
participate in the 4-Miler, runners must register and pay the race
fee of $15 by Aug. 26. Race forms are available at Ragged Mountain
Running Shop on Elliewood Avenue, or from the web site at http://www.med.virginia.edu/medcntr/cancer/womens4miler/home.html.
The run begins at the Foxfield Race Track on Garth Road, and participants
must be there between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
Proceeds
from the run, hosted by the Charlottesville Track Club, will benefit
the Cancer Center's Breast Resource Center. The center provides
education and services related to breast cancer and breast disease
to patients, family members, health professionals and the community.
In previous years, the 4-Miler has funded an exercise program and
video for women with cancer and the printing of a self-help book
for breast cancer patients.
