John Hopkins Yancey Sr. of Palmyra, 84, a retired University Hospital employee, died Nov. 21 in Charlottesville. Funeral services were held Nov. 24. Donations may be made to the Lyles Baptist Church General Fund or the Fluvanna County Rescue Squad in his honor.

D. Rutledge Vining of Charlottesville, 91, a professor emeritus of economics, died Dec. 4 at the University Hospital. He arrived at U.Va. in 1945 and remained on the faculty for more than 50 years, taking emeritus status in 1979. A memorial service will be held Dec. 11 at 4 p.m. in St. Paulšs Church on University Avenue.
