Nasaq president to speak at graduation

The University's graduation speaker this spring will be Alfred R. Berkeley III, president of the Nasdaq Stock Market and a 1966 graduate of U.Va.'s College of Arts & Sciences. He will deliver the 2000 commencement address during the Lawn ceremony on May 21.

Berkeley became president of Nasdaq, the world's first electronic-based stock market, in 1996. With phenomenal growth and an emphasis on technology, it has become the country's second-largest stock market. He received an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1968.
