president to speak at graduation
The
University's graduation speaker this spring will be Alfred R.
Berkeley III, president of the Nasdaq Stock Market and a 1966
graduate of U.Va.'s College
of Arts & Sciences. He will deliver the 2000 commencement
address during the Lawn ceremony on May 21.
Berkeley
became president of Nasdaq, the world's first electronic-based
stock market, in 1996. With phenomenal growth and an emphasis
on technology, it has become the country's second-largest stock
market. He received an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University
of Pennsylvania in 1968.
