Take
your daughters to work April 27
On
"Take Our Daughters to Work Day," millions of caring
adults across the country will take a girl to work to encourage
her educational development during adolescence.
Join
in the fun and take your daughter -- or your friend's daughter
-- to work on April 27.
Take
Our Daughters To Work Day was founded in 1993 by the Ms. Foundation
for Women after research found adolescent girls often receive
less attention than boys in school, suffer from lower expectations
and often tend to dislike themselves based on physical appearance.
The foundation launched the public education program to encourage
adults to help girls grow up with confidence and good health and
be ready to fulfill their dreams.
University
and community participants are invited to attend a "Happy
Hour" to celebrate participants in this semester's Young
Women Leaders Program from 2-4 p.m. in Newcomb Hall, South Meeting
Room.
For information, call the Women's
Center at 982-2361.
