Questions about the
new pay plan?
For
the past couple months and throughout the summer, Human
Resources is conducting information sessions about the new
pay plan, which takes effect Sept. 25. In this and upcoming issues,
Inside UVA plans to run a series of some of the most frequently
asked questions coming up at the meetings -- and their answers.
Q.Under the current
classified pay plan, if I compete for a job opening that results
in a promotion or a lateral transfer, will I be able to negotiate
for a salary increase?
A.
Yes, you may negotiate a salary increase up to 15 percent of your
current salary in both instances. If the new position is at the
same pay band level, however, the increase can not exceed the
maximum of the pay band. If you get a promotion, you must be paid
at least the minimum salary of the higher pay band, but still
not exceed the maximum of the new pay band.
