Ruth E. Brong, 85, of Rydal Park, Pa., died June 1. She finished her teaching career as an associate professor of nursing at the University. Memorial donations may be made to: St. Luke's United Church of Christ Building Fund, 474 Belfast Rd., Nazareth, PA 18064.

  • M. Shannon Allen Jr., professor emeritus of pathology in the School of Medicine, died June 9. Memorial donations may be made to: Charlottesville Track Club, P.O. Box 495, Charlottesville, VA 22902.

  • Kenneth F. Stubbs Jr., 77, of North Garden, died June 10. He was a former University custodial worker who retired in 1985.

  • Samuel Joseph Goldstein Jr., 74, of Charlottesville, died June 13. He taught astronomy at the University until retiring in 1994. Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Library or a rescue squad.

  • Elizabeth Ann Goode, 61, of Esmont died June 14. A University employee for almost 40 years, she worked in admissions and athletics before retiring from the Virginia Student Aid Foundation as a gift processor in 1998. Memorial contributions may be made to: Hospice of the Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Mountain Place, Suite 200, Charlottesville, VA 22911; or the American Cancer Society, 729 Thimble Shoals Rd., Suite 3-C, Newport News, VA 23606-4217.
