13th in Sears Cup
U.Va.'s
athletic program ranked 13th in the final 1999-2000 Division I
Sears Directorsą Cup standings, extending its streak of having
finished in the Top 25 each year in the seven-year history of
the program. Stanford finished first in the NCAA Division I standings,
based upon the combined performances of men's and women's sports
during the academic year, for the sixth consecutive year. Virginia
was one of three Atlantic Coast Conference schools in the top
25, along with North Carolina (fifth) and Duke (24th). Teams or
individuals in 17 sports represented Virginia in NCAA post-season
play. Virginia finished eighth in the 1999 Sears Directorsą Cup
standings. U.Va. was 13th in 1998 and 22nd in 1997.
