Anita Jones to speak at Fall Convocation

This year's Fall Convocation speaker will be Anita Jones, University Professor and Lawrence R. Quarles Professor in Engineering, who also chairs the Virginia 2020 Science and Technology Planning Commission. The ceremony, to be held Oct. 13 on the Lawn at 2 p.m., opens Family Weekend and recognizes third-year students receiving intermediate honors.

In addition, President John T. Casteen III will confer U.Va.'s highest honor, the Thomas Jefferson Award, upon a member of the University community.

Family Weekend, from Oct. 13 to 15, comprises a variety of events, including a University forum led by Casteen, faculty lectures, social gatherings and other activities. See
