Admit
it -- you've wondered about that odd-looking Victorian building
that you pass on the way from the Lawn to the Corner. Brooks
Hall, home to the art and anthropology departments, has a
lot of history behind it. Just who are those people whose names
are featured on the façade? Was the building really intended to
be built at Yale? And how did it survive a 1977 Board of Visitors
resolution that it be demolished? Anthropology chair Jeffrey L.
Hantman penned an informative history of enigmatic Brooks Hall
and posted it here.
