• Mary R. Christian, 76, of Charlottesville, died Nov. 2. She retired from the University in 1985 after 37 years of service.

• Ruth M. Detamore, 92, of Florida, formerly of Earlysville, died Nov. 3. A licensed practical nurse, she spent 21 years at the University Hospital, working mainly in the newborn nursery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ivy Creek United Methodist Church.
