Cancer grant deadline

The American Cancer Society has given the U.Va. Cancer Center an institutional research award to provide young cancer investigators with "seed grants." The application deadline is Feb. 2.

Junior faculty investigators who have not received support from prior ACS institutional research grants are eligible for the grants of up to $20,000. ACS also encourages programs in psychosocial and behavioral research, as well as cancer care for the economically disadvantaged.

Those currently (as of Feb. 2, 2001) accepting funds from national granting agencies, and established investigators (associate or full professors), residents, post-doctoral and graduate students, are not eligible.

Grant applications are available at the Cancer Center; the original and 15 copies of the application, plus a biographical sketch, should be sent to the Cancer Center, 4th floor, Hospital West, Box 800334. For information, call 924-2562.
