News Services provides information to the media on a range
of U.Va. activities, from breaking news to cutting-edge research.
News
information officers work one-on-one with faculty, staff and students
to promote news and feature coverage of significant initiatives
and achievements.
Two
information sources that the News Services maintains online are
Top News, a listing
of current press releases and news about the University, with
a searchable index of past press releases back to August 1993
and Headlines about UVA, a daily compilation of articles appearing
in the media about the University, higher education issues and
trends. Headline
News is also distributed daily via e-mail; to have it sent
to you, send a request to headlinenews@virginia.edu.
Inside
UVA also is part of the News Services office, and the news
officers coordinate efforts with our staff to help inform the
University community.
The U.Va. Events Calendar
on the Web, also maintained by News Services, is a comprehensive,
searchable listing of public events at the University: lectures,
exhibitions, speakers, conferences, plays, sports and more. Calendar
items may be submitted by selecting the "submit events"
button on the right side of the calendar home page.
The
Office
of Television News provides information and production support
to members of the TV media and to University administrators, faculty,
staff and students. The office spearheads University productions,
manages U.Va.'s contracts with production companies, administers
its video and film policies, maintains the University's video
archives, and assists in making arrangements for use of U.Va.'s
on-campus studio, state microwave network and C-band satellite
uplink.
