Harmon gets new post

William W. Harmon, U.Va. vice president for student affairs since 1994, will become senior vice president this summer to work on athletics fund raising, among other duties.

Patricia M. Lampkin, associate vice president for student affairs, will serve as interim vice president while a search is conducted, said U.Va. President John T. Casteen III.

In his new role, Harmon, who will report to Casteen, will serve as a key member of the team spearheading plans for a new basketball and special-events facility. With longtime experience as a student-affairs administrator and as a former student-athlete, he also will assist in implementing recommendations of the athletics task force related to academic support and student life.
