Deadline for Administrative Internship
Program extended to Aug. 31
Are
you looking for career development opportunities at the University?
Want a way to strengthen your abilities and learn new skills outside
of your present job? Do you wish you could have an opportunity
to work on exciting projects and new initiatives, to do something
challenging and different for a while?
If
you answered yes to any of these questions, read on.
You
can take advantage of a special opportunity to develop your work-related
skills and enhance your potential for career advancement
all supported and funded by the University through the
Administrative
Internship Program. The program is a career development initiative
started six years ago at the request of President John T. Casteen
III to give employees with outstanding leadership potential the
chance to demonstrate their capabilities to senior managers and
administrators.
Interns
serve for a period of six months in a placement of their choosing.
They receive the same salary and benefits as in their current
jobs during the program and return to their departmental roles
afterwards. The internship is intended to give participants enhanced
knowledge and skills, experience and greater visibility in a senior
administrative environment and expanded career options.
Applicants
are judged on their accomplishments and their potential for making
successful contributions through the internship experience. First
consideration is given to employees who have bachelors degrees
or equivalent work experience and have been University employees
for at least three years.
Requirements
include a cover letter (not to exceed two pages), resumé
and three letters of recommendation sent under separate cover
to: Administrative Internship Program, University Career Services,
Human Resources, 2400 Old Ivy Road, P.O. Box 400803, Charlottesville,
VA, 22904-0803. The deadline is Aug. 31.
