'Masquerades' on film

The 14th annual Virginia Film Festival, Oct. 25-28, will look at masquerades in many forms — how characters put on different identities in the roles they play. Special emphasis will be focused on the collaborative art of Gena Rowlands and the late John Cassavetes, as well as that of maverick director Henry Jaglom and actress-screenwriter Victoria Foyt. The festival will showcase over 60 premiere and classic films that illuminate the theme, plus numerous exhibitions, performances, and an appearance by Bread and Puppet Theater.

The complete program and tickets are available online at www.vafilm.com. Call 1-800-UVA-FEST for information.
