43 undergrads win research awards
The Faculty Senate has selected 43 undergraduates
to receive David A. Harrison III Awards for Undergraduate Research.
The second- and third-year students will be recognized at a public
ceremony Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. in the Rotunda Dome Room.
The
students, who will receive up to $3,000 for their research projects,
will work with faculty sponsors this semester and through the
summer.
This
is the best way to develop the qualities of curiosity, creativity
and independence that are so important for the undergraduates
as they move into their careers, said biology professor
Robert Grainger, chair of the Faculty Senate. Ninety applications
were submitted this year.
