New committee to ID and resolve concerns

With town-gown conflicts in the news over recent months, a new committee has been formed to increase communication between members of the University and local public safety communities.

The Community/University Police Liaison Committee, co-chaired by University Police Chief Paul E. Norris Jr. and Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo, will work with members of the U.Va. community to identify and resolve areas of mutual concern. It will work closely with the Student Affairs’ office.

Initial efforts will focus on identifying student and police concerns, developing open communication and respect between police and student leaders, and establishing ride-along opportunities.
