Sign-ups are under way for the United Way Laurence E. Richardson Day of Caring, set for Sept. 25. Employees are invited to participate in community service projects, including reading to children, visiting senior citizens, painting a home, repairing a fence or planting flowers.

Volunteers receive specially designed T-shirts to wear during the event. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. E-mail Dana Rivera at dlr2v@virginia.edu with the type of work you prefer, T-shirt size, telephone number or e-mail address and department.
