U.Va. employees care

The United Way-Thomas Jefferson Area will sponsor its annual Laurence E. Richardson Day of Caring on Sept. 25, a community service event that matches volunteers with local service organizations. A 7 a.m. breakfast rally will kick off the event before participants head out to project sites throughout the Charlottesville area.

Nearly 200 U.Va. employees have registered to participate in more than 35 projects ranging from landscaping, painting, light construction and deck repair to hosting Senior Center parties and reading to children.

The event also marks the beginning of the University’s annual charitable giving drive, conducted through the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign, which allows U.Va. employees to contribute to over 1,000 local, state, national and international charities.
