Register now for sports field
day
Local young athletes and sports fans have the chance to spend
a day with three of their favorite U.Va. coaches on Oct. 12 for
Taste of the Game, a program that raises money to
relieve childhood hunger in the Charlottesville area. The field
day is a joint venture of Share Our Strength, a national organization
dedicated to fighting poverty, and U.Va. athletics.
Coaches
from baseball, golf, soccer, tennis, basketball, lacrosse, swimming
and volleyball will give coaching sessions from 1 to 4 p.m. outside
Memorial Gymnasium. A picnic dinner afterwards, event T-shirt
and free youth ticket to the Troy State vs. U.Va. football game
are included for the ticket price of $20 for youth, plus an additional
$5 for accompanying parent. Rain site: The Cage behind University
Hall. To purchase tickets, visit the U.Va. athletic ticket office
at Bryant Hall from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Mon.-Fri., or register online
at www.tasteofthegame.org.
