Ring CMC Telethon phones for 20th
year
The Children’s Miracle Network Telethon is broadcast live every spring
by WVIR-NBC
channel 29, and this year will be the 20th anniversary for the fund-raising event
that benefits the U.Va. Children’s Medical Center. The two-day event is
part of a national effort to raise funds for children’s health, but every
penny raised in Central Virginia remains in the community to support the work
of the CMC.
The program airs from the U.Va. hospital’s 7th-floor play terrace June
5th, 8 to 11:30 p.m., and June 6th, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
In the past, telethon funds have supported the Newborn Emergency
Transport System van, the Virginia Children’s Heart Center, renovations to the Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit, pediatric research and books and toys for the CMC.
In
conjunction with the telethon, the 20th Annual CMC Walk-For-Kids,
hosted by Klockner Pentaplast, will take place on June
5, with registration at 8
a.m. and
the walk beginning at 9 a.m. For information, see www.healthsystem.virginia.edu/internet/cmcevents/walkathon_2004/
