Clarification
An April 23 article on the Virginia Center for Digital History neglected
to explain that the Jackson Davis collection of images was digitized and posted
on the Web
by U.Va. library staff through a federal grant. The center then built those images
into its project, “Race and Place: An African-American Community in the
Jim Crow South.” See www.vcdh.virginia.edu and www.lib.virginia.edu/speccol/collections/jdavis/.
