Back to the Books: How to be a Successful Adult
College Student
Attention, employees thinking about going back to school: register for the “Back
to the Books” workshop, brought to you by Faculty and Staff Career Services.
The workshop is designed for employees with high school degrees interested in
starting or restarting their associates’ or 4-year degree. U.Va.’s
education benefits will be explained.
Speakers will
discuss how to: decide what school and program is right for you; prepare
for placement tests; develop a personal
support network as a student; and discuss your learning plan and class schedule
with your boss. The event also includes a panel of U.Va. employee-students
who tell it like it is. Attendance is open to all academic and Health System employees, including
classified, wage and temporary staff. The workshop is offered only
once a year. Academic
staff with supervisor permission may record attendance at Human Resources events
as hours worked. There is no charge but registration is required. Contact Emily
Bardeen, ebardeen@virginia.edu or 924-4343, if you have questions.
